Real almost first day at the job. Am greeted by that lovely "seattle"weather that I was so excited about yesterday. Today though, not so much... Especially since I have to use a badge to get into my parking lot, which means I have to roll my window down. My car (Rambo is her name) is a little old and an old boyfriend broke the window(total accident). But to replace it costs like $500.00 almost all that my car is worth. (for a pic of Rambo, look at my profile pic) So that being said, I'd have to open my door to do this swiping of the badge. Decided it was easier to just take my sister's car. I get there and of course am wet. But that's okay. I clock in and meet my lovely trainer, Penny. She really is a lovely woman. One saving grace is that so far, all the people I've met that I'll be working with are fun. So, that's a definite good start!
So, continuing on with my first day, I am then told that my wish bracelet will have to come off. Not because of this particular company but because of OSHA. Apparently, we sell coffee and slushies. We don't serve them, they get it for themselves but because we prepare those things, no watches, bracelets, rings with stones, or nail polish at all. I wanted to tell OSHA what they could do with their over cautionary rules. I know it may seem silly to some people. Just take the damn bracelet off, right? NO, I've had this silly piece of string basically for 2 years. It's a wish bracelet, when it falls off, my wish comes true. I tried to explain this. They weren't having it. As if that wasn't traumatizing enough, I am told that I have the wrong shoes on. I had bought these shoes for a previous position at the same company. But at my new position, they have to be brown boot type shoes that are going to be around the 50 dollar mark. Not a big fan of buying shoes that are work only.... and ugly. ;]
But that is what I'll do.
Overall, though, I had a good day. It'll be nice to be busy doing something and even if this isn't ideal, I'm making money. Then again, I suppose life is what you make it, right? Otherwise, might as well just kill ourselves now.
Still raining,...
<3 to all!
