Nothing really has changed except my attitude and that has made all the difference.
Went to Alabama to visit my cousins that I have there and every time I end up going there, I realize just how much I love it there. I think I could live in Alabama. The people are lovely and there is plenty to do. But then again, maybe, I do what my Mother says I do. She says that I fall in love with anywhere I go but I don't think it's entirely true. I mean, I do. But, I don't always want to live there.
I love visiting that side of the family. They are such amazing people. It's actually a funny story. My brother is really into genealogy and found out we had some relatives in Tuscaloosa and asked my Dad about it. Then my Dad decided to write to that family that lived out there, more specifically a teacher in the Art Dept. This teacher is my grandfather's cousin and used to be really great friends. His son wrote my Dad back and then we went out there for my grandfather's cousin's 85th birthday party. Needless to say we were the surprise! But, really, they are such lovely people.
This trip out my little(well not soooo little but younger) cousin was making his Confirmation and my Pops was his sponsor. But in our short time there, we managed to go shopping, eat some of the most delish Mexican food, go fishing, hike and hang out with the family. It was such a good trip. We went fishing on a friend's farm and after we were done, we were going to go to the shooting range but we had been driving around because it would take too long to walk to everywhere. My cousin has a red S.U.V. We turn the corner of the range and lo' and behold, there is quite possibly the largest bull I have ever seen. Now, if you didn't know, but, red is their color. They see that and they attack. I'm not sure if it's because they like it or they hate it. Regardless, this bull starts trotting over, outstretches his front hoof and then we know we're in trouble. My cousin is a very jocular sort of man, this was one of the first times he decided to not make a joke. We made it out safe.
But then... As we're leaving, there is this huge snake (at least 5 ft in length and as thick as an arm) sprawled across the road. So, instead of running it over or just letting it be, what do these 3 jerks do?? We get out, take pictures/videos and my Pop just went absolutely nuts, throwing rocks at it and yelling at it and just behaving like a 6th grader. It was pretty funny to watch actually. But not really, the key phrase in the video that my cuz took was me pulling my Father back and asking him "What the hell is wrong with you, Dad"? It was pretty funny.
Bought Avatar on EarthDay also.
One of the miserable parts of the trip was that we had to leave Thursday night because I had to work yesterday. It was pretty awful. My Pops and I drove through the night and we were so tired but we got in at 7am. Went straight to sleep. But today and tomorrow are going to be devoted to my best friend. Going to Tampa, we're going to go to the beach, a Jimmy Buffett tailgating party and just enjoy each other's company.
Enjoy the small things, don't expect anything and just live... Live deeply is all that I can say helps us through life! <3 you guys are the best.
Oh and by the way- have my interview in the Everglades on Tuesday- wish me luckkkk!
